The Challenge

With so many high rise apartment and residential buildings on the Gold Coast of Australia, and with many more planned, the GCCC needed an easy and cost-effective method to gather metered data and supply it to their invoicing and billing systems. Utility Technology's hard-wired system has been approved as one of only 3 wired systems for automatic meter reading on the council's IPAM list that can be installed on the Gold Coast. The IPAM list is a comprehensive supply and install standard for Queensland councils including Logan City Gold Coast, and Queensland Urban Utilities (QUU).

 

 

The Solution

Utility Technologies was chosen as an authorised supplier because our automatic meter reader (AMR) system is easy to configure and it retrieves meter readings remotely without people having to enter the buildings.

The pulse collection systems allows many water meters to be networked within a building using data loggers. These can be read from a single point at each building as required by the City of Gold Coast IPAM standard.

The system consists of 16 or 32 channel data loggers that that can be read remotely from a single box. The data is then used to create accounts for clients.

The Result

There are currently around 60 multi-dwelling buildings on the Gold Coast that have installed a Utility Technology automatic meter reader system including some of the Coast's most iconic high rise hotels such as Soul.

The Utility Technology's AMR solution saves the council-approved meter readers having to enter high rise buildings and travel physically through them taking manual meter readings from meter dials on each floor. It removes the risk of errors from manual data entry.

The system has been developed to use several data transport methods to send and read data including: USB, RS485, Serial RS323 and GSM modem.
